暴れん坊ママ (Wild Mom) (2007)

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Abarenbo_Mama
22-year old Kawano Ayu was brought up way out in the country. She's a rough-mannered tomboy. When she meets Tetsu, a divorced beautician, the two fall in love and get married. Immediately after their happy new life begins, they are visited by a 5-year old boy, Yuki, who claims to be Tetsu's son. Ayu reluctantly becomes the boy's mother, but has no idea how to raise a child. What's more, at kindergarten, she must confront the elegant mothers of the neighborhood. Ayu's humorous life as a rookie mother begins. --Fuji TV

I liked this show a lot. This show mainly demonstrated that it is important to stay true to who you are and your personal beliefs but also be understanding of others and how they may misunderstand you at times. Here we have a woman thrust into being the stepmother for a distant child and a clueless father expecting everything to just connect which honestly does, and does not, work out. We also see the trials of being a mother in an overly structured system where even the parents have a hierarchy within their child's school, which makes no sense to me because it is unnecessary and self-serving. This show takes some getting used to, especially since they play out the internal monologue on the actor's face which can be awesomely funny, or strangely weird. Overall, this series is definitely worth a watch and I believe would be enjoyed by most.

アキハバラ@DEEP (Akihabara@DEEP) (2006) - Drama Series not the Movie

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Akihabara@Deep
Akihabara is a Tokyo district full of mangas, anime, electronics, video games, figurines, etc. It is a place that gathers fanatics of such themes, people who are commonly referred to as otaku. Page, Box, Akira, Taiko, Daruma, and Izumu are six otaku each with his/her own troubles and sought relief through a website called "Yui's Lifeguard." When site owner Yui died of a mysterious death, the six who are each experts in their own fields gathered to form "Akihabara@DEEP", a "trouble shooter" group that vows to protect Akihabara and solve the problems of its inhabitants.

I really enjoyed this series. Seeing a bunch of faces who are big stars now being little flickering lights center stage is awesome. This series really encompasses the concept of together people can do anything and that even the meek can find strength in themselves to fight against hardship. Although very inspirational in its own way, it will also take some determination to sit through it. I don't mean to say that it is a bad series it just drags at points which can deter many people who want to enjoy the series further. It's funny, campy, and explorative of the lifestyle in Akihabara, but it can also be draggy and at times boring so be prepared if you plan to watch it. Most of the main stars in this series went on to do great for themselves and others faded away, for example:

Ikuta Toma. Since this show, he has done a ton of movies and shows and has truly gained stardom status.

Kazama Shunsuke. Though not as prolific as his fellow Johnny's above, he continues to have a stable and productive career on screen, but has also done a lot of stage work as well.

Hoshino Gen. Definitely not as involved in screenwork as the two above, he is definitely a known figure in this day and age as a singer/songwriter of some renown. So much so, that he performed at the 67th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen just this past New Years Eve, and his latest song has blasted to the top of the charts.

Himura Yuki. Originally a comedian, he has expanded beyond that to being a director, and announcer popular in both mainstream media and comedic variety shows. I believe he is, or was, even the voice from heaven on vs Arashi.

Kosaka Yuka & Matsushima Hatsune. These ladies have all but disappeared from the screen only revisiting the occasional variety show and have instead gone into modeling as their mainstream careers.

This series can be found here on Nyaa torrents: https://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=110180&showfiles=b3e18d9d

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Kaiki daikazoku (The Great Horror Family) (2004)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0860873/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl
Kiyoshi Imawano and his family move into a haunted house. The entire family, except the occult-obsessed father, gains the power to see ghosts and spirits. An undead monk, secret government agents, even UFOs start showing up. It's up to Kiyoshi to find out why the house is troubled by all these strange occurrences and save his family, and possibly the world, from inter-dimensional terrors.

A hysterical show starring Issei Takahashi (高橋一生), of such fame as One Pound Gospel with Kazuya Kamenashi and Mosaic Japan with Kento Nagayama. He is the main protagonist who has to deal with, with help of course, with all the supernatural and strange occurrences that transpire. I would recommend this show for many reasons but the main one being that it is like a long running funny b-movie that makes you laugh and relax throughout.

If it helps to attract to the series, in one episode Issei Takahashi is mostly naked for part of it:

I still lament the demise of video sharing on d-addicts but the whole series can be found on Avistaz (https://avistaz.to/) with the subtitles. You would just have to register to get them. I would upload it but since I don't know who the original uploader and translator is, I don't want to inadvertently disrespect them.

Umi no Ue no Shinryojo (Clinic on the Sea) (2013)

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Umi_no_Ue_no_Shinryojo
Sezaki Kota is a young doctor who runs a boat clinic, Kaishinmaru, that plies the Seto Inland Sea islands. Kota is a very capable doctor, but he has one big flaw... he falls for women easily. He romances each island's madonna when they come to him seeking treatment. However, his efforts at romancing them seem to fail each time, and thus with tears streaming, he sets off for the next island, ever in search of a true love.

An awesome series. Starring Matsuda Shota, and costarring Takei Emi and Fukushi Sota. Because of the constant romancing and how sweet and naive Sezaki Kota (Matsuda Shota) is you can't help but fall in love with him and wish him the best throughout. The storyline, which jumps from island to island, is surprisingly consistent and works to promote the Seto Inland Sea perfectly. I recommend this series for anyone looking for a relaxing, heart-warming, and comedic drama on a nice lazy afternoon.

(Sadly no daddicts, or asianwiki page for it)

So summary: Two highschool students, a rough tomboy girl and a gentle sensitive boy, end up having their bodies switched thanks to the girls scientific, and irresponsible, grandfather. This short 2005 series chronicles their hijinks, torments, and pseudo sexual exploration.

The series was cute, nothing overly exciting, and as I sit here writing this, I'm not too sure I recommend it. The manga was worlds better, and the series mainly tried to play off the sexual tension, and innuendo, then try to really tell any story.

This was a hardsub that I pulled from daddicts way back when. If you're interested I can email jewelchan, who subbed it, for permission to post it to mega and allow for download.

Densha Otoko

A true love story turned to bestselling novel, created from the Internet BBS, 2channel to blockbuster hit movie. Ito Misaki plays Aoyama Saori, working as an office lady at a MNC, gets into trouble with a drunkard on a train. She's saved by Yamada Tsuyoshi, played by Ito Atsushi. As a form of appreciation, she sends him Hermes teacups. Having no experience with the opposite sex, Tsuyoshi decides to ask for help on the Aladdin Channel BBS on how to interact with Saori.

An AMAZING series! It made me happy, sad, jealous, sad, then happy all in it's 11 episodes and special. I have to say, of Japanese men, I love Johnny's! Their looks, their style, and their overall skills excite me. With that said Ito Atsushi, in no ways a Johnny's, made me fall for him hard. His drive, his vulnerability, his humility, his strength and overall virtue was truly inspiring. I highly recommend this series for all those who feel that they are never good enough, hot enough, smart enough, or whatever enough to be with someone they love, and I hope that it inspires and reminds them that with true friends and a heartfelt drive they can do anything.

As to raws, I sadly am no longer sure, I googled and ran through all the websites I usually do, but could not find them. I'll keep looking and update this post once I find them. theoretically, they can be found at Nyaa Torrents: https://www.nyaa.se/, but I say theoretically because it looks like there are little to no seeds. I will keep looking for a more stable source.

Brother Beat

--Tanaka Misako stars as a woman struggling to raise her three sons - played by Tamayama Tetsuji, Hayami Mokomichi and Nakao Akiyoshi - after her husband dies. Kuninaka Ryoko will appear as Tamayama's girlfriend, Chisato.

They don't know when to stop, and live life to the full—meet the never-a-dull-moment Sakurai family, where nobody holds their feelings back. Returning to serial drama for the first time in five years, Misako Tanaka and the three hyperactive sons provide a story with a heartbeat. Sakurai Harue (Tanaka) who has brought up her sons alone after her husband died, is absolutely hopeless at running a household. Her eldest, stickler Tatsuya (Tamayama), does the job in her place while keeping younger brothers Riku (Hayami), and Junpei (Nakao) firmly in line. The sparks are constantly flying, but that's the way it goes in this home. Tatsuya, a serious-minded advertising agency worker, and his brothers, an easy-going swimming instructor and rather naïve student, are three good-lookers who, along with their useless live-wire of a mother, keep getting into all sorts of scrapes—in love and at work. This is the Sakurai household, where everything hangs loose and everyone always speaks their mind. Tanaka says she really loves this 'perfect family.' They are sure to win your hearts too!

So first off, I love the interplay of the brothers, they are really amazing. Although we know the names of the Tamayama Tetsuji, Hayami Mokomichi, and Nakao Akiyoshi now, back in 2005 when this first came out they were just settling into their styles and were doing more modeling then acting. They worked well off of each other and wove a tale of comedic, dramatic, and realistic proportions.

Although it's only episode 1 - 4, tianj and their team were great for subbing as much as they did. The rest of the subs were hardcoded and posted on d-addicts, but sadly they have been removed. If you'd like to see the show in it's entirety, please let me know and I will email tianj and see if they will let me share their hardsubs via mega.

Life

Finally, getting back into the swing of things. Work and life have been abundantly complicated for the past few months but now I have gotten back into the swing of things. Time to document more dramas that I have watched!

Ando Lloyd - A.I. knows LOVE?

Ando-Lloyd
(http://asianwiki.com/Ando_Lloyd_-_A.I._Knows_Love_%3F)
--Reiji Matsushima (Takuya Kimura) is a genius physicist. He realizes that he and his fiancé Asahi Ando (Kou Shibasaki) will be killed a theory that he advanced.
One day, in the year 2013, Reiji dies in a airplane explosion & crash. He was a handsome and world-famous professor who studied wormhole theories. It is a mystery whether his research on wormhole theory caused his death or not.
His fiance Asahi is a capable career woman working at a large IT company. She is beautiful and smart, but she met Reiji and fell in love with him. Her days with Reiji were happy, but one day he dies and somebody tries to kill her. Asahi doesn't know why someone wants to end her life.
Lloyd, who looks exactly like her dead fiance Reiji, suddenly appears in front of her. Lloyd came from the year 2113. His mission is to protect Asahi from any risky situations. Without Asahi's knowledge, Lloyd fights to protect her. Lloyd doesn't know what "love" is and doesn't understand human anger or sadness.
At first, Asahi doesn't like Lloyd, but slowly her feelings change. Lloyd also begins to develop feelings for her.

First I have to say that this show was soooo awesome that I watched the whole thing over a two day period. Originally, thanks to the above image, I got the idea that this would be somewhat like Absolute Boyfriend with just a bit more action. I was thankful I was wrong, not because I didn't absolutely LOVE Absolute Boyfriend, but because this show took the exploration of love and identity in a whole other direction. The graphics and the fight scenes held up beautifully but I found myself thinking that some of the graphics had to have been inspired by Dragon Ball.

Takuya Kimura plays the range of Reiji to Lloyd flawlessly, but I've loved him since Mr.Brain, so I am a bit biased. I do have to say though that Kou Shibasaki was great in her character portrayal of the wounded dove fighting back against the wicked machine.

I do have to say that although the above graphic does advertise the show, I think that it belittles a bit of the fire that this show has. I'd have chosen something like this...

Ando Lloyd ep03 (848x480 x264).mp4_snapshot_06.16_[2013.12.22_17.54.35]

Only because in this brief moment that it kind of portray the emotions of the overall show.

I highly reccommend this show for those who love romance but need a whovian sci fi touch to enliven it for them...
